Betsy Stewart graduated from Mercer University with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and from Walden University with a Master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment grades K-12. She also obtained her Gifted Certification from North Georgia College. She has been a public school teacher for 25 years teaching both 1st and 2nd grades. Betsy has worked in ministry most of her adult life. She founded Inside Ministries which provided services to local shut in and hosted ministry events around our community. She also sang in the praise band at First Baptist Church of Thomaston for over 15 years. She has worked in both youth and children’s ministries as a Sunday school teacher and VBS director. She has taken both youth and children to summer camps throughout the years and served as the Preschool Director for First Baptist. Betsy enjoys mission work and has served on various mission teams ministering to people in South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, as well as to the indigenous people groups in the Talamanca Mountains of Costa Rica. Betsy has been at Thomaston First United Methodist Church for four years now and serves as both our Contemporary Worship Leader and Children’s Pastor.  She is the proud mother of Tyler (wife- Lucy), Rich, and Grady.  She is also “Hunny” to her grandson, Thad who she adores.  Her mission as the Children’s Pastor of TFUMC is to connect children to God by cultivating a heart-transforming personal faith in Jesus Christ through biblically sound teaching and discipleship as well as to minister to entire families by working to empower and eqip parents to be the primary spiritual leaders in their childrens’ lives.
